Today, many of us are faced with challenges, a lot of which we do not have control over. Every day, the news bombards us with tragic information. We feel unsafe going from place to place. There's inflation everywhere and people's finances are declining. The forecasts predict that things may even get worse.
So how does a believer deal with fear, anxiety, and hardship in times like this?
Our faith teaches us that things will pass and that those tests are not punishments but opportunities for immense blessings and rewards.
Children are an Amanah (trust) to us as Muslims and the best gift a parent can give to a child is a proper upbringing.
"When a person dies, his deeds come to an end, except for three: ongoing charity (Sadaqah Jariyah), the knowledge that is benefited from, and a righteous child who prays for him.” (Sahih Muslim)
If a person leaves pious children, he will continue to receive rewards as long as his children keep on doing good deeds, regardless of whether they make the intention of sending the rewards to their parents or not.
Ibn ‘Abbaas (RA) reported that the Prophet (PBUH) said: “There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these 10 days.”
The people asked, “Not even jihad for the sake of Allah?”
He said, “Not even jihad for the sake of Allah, except in the case of a man who went out to fight giving himself and his wealth up for the cause and came back with nothing.” - Bukhaari, 2/457
"And he used to enjoin on his people prayer and zakat was to his Lord pleasing". (19:55)
As Muslims, one of our life goals is to pass on the practice of Islam to our offspring. In recent years, Muslims are learning that it is much better to make our children love the Deen rather than be compelled to practice it.
How can we achieve this and raise our kids to love Salah?
